Was walking home from dinner an hour or so ago when the level crossing lights started flashing. Figured this would be as good a time as ever to play around with the settings on my potato camera and record the train since I had a really close spot. Well, little did I know that seconds after hitting record, I'd catch an utter moron on video. Have a look.
Sure he had a ton of time, but that's not really an excuse, he got lucky that this was a slow moving freight train and not a speedier passenger train. He wasn't even wearing a safety vest or hard had. Too bad you can't read the number plate - the fact that the plate light was out didn't help either.
You just need to watch through the first minute or so (until the car alarm) - the rest is just train passing by.

Hah, and judging by a solid almost 3 minutes of train, it would have been between a half mile to a mile of "safe" stopping distance. Someone dumb enough to jump that right in front of the train would have eaten rails for probably a minute, and ruined everyone's evening.
Stupid.

I read an article about a guy that was the head conductor on a train in the Netherlands, they are the one's responsible to verify that jumpers are actually dead. He'd had do this quite a few times and on the last one decided he had had enough.
Then years later he decided to come out of retirement, first train he's on, bam, someone jumps in front of it :(
